good news & bad news

The good news?

The nursery closet is now empty; I have seven bags of clothes to take to the Salvos; I have baby hangers & closet dividers and wicker baskets en route from Baby Supe R Store.

The bad news?

There's nothing else in the nursery.

The good news?

I get to eat a full-size candy bar every day for the next three days under orders from my doctor!

The bad news?

This is because I flunked my last glucose test and have to go back in for the three-hour version, and the candy bars are part of the 'special diet' to prepare for that.

Oh well. It's still a candy bar a day, right?

Man, I never got the candy bar diet when I flunked my first glucose tolerance test. Lucky you!!

Actually, please don't freak out if it turns out that you flunk the 3-hour test. GD is a shocker when you get the news, and even more so if you're told you have to inject insulin, but really, it's not that bad and it doesn't take long to get used to. Even if you're a needle-phobic like me. Somehow, I was able to accept it (after less than a day of trauma and feeling sorry for myself and how unfair the universe was) and just add it to my day.

This time around, I get to skip the glucose tests altogether, since I'm already on metformin and testing daily. I just have to let the doctor know if the sugars start to go haywire, and then probably go back on insulin. So far so good, though.

Fingers are crossed for you, and enjoy those candy bars!!

Enjoy those candy bars... and just think of it as one of the many "sacrifices" you're making for Miss Snoop. :)

yummy........what's full-sized?
6oz. or more?
Pay attention to how you feel after you
eat the candy..... it may give you a clue to
how your body is handling sugar.
Good luck on the closet :0)

I met someone through work with an unusual name that would be perfect for Miss Snoop......

Durfee.

No, I'm not kidding.

Good luck with the next blood test.

I'm going to start telling people that the doctor said I need to eat candy bars too - okay?

Maybe it was a flukey test...that happens sometimes.

Keep us posted.
